How does CCSecured protect your information?


CCSecured uses 256 bit SSL to process the information from your browser to our secure server. This process will encrypt messages sent from your computer enabling top-notch online security. CCSecured’s encryption process hides your transaction details in such a way that the original information can ONLY be recovered through a corresponding decryption process at the server. Encryption and decryption are the most common and reliable techniques in online cryptography.



What is SSL?


The Secure Socket Layer is a protocol that was created by Netscape to ensure secure and confidential transactions between servers and browsers. The entire process is defined below for your understanding:


  1. A browser requests a secure page.

  2. The secure server sends its public key and certificate.

  3. The browser verifies the certificate issued and checks whether it is still valid.

  4. The browser then uses the public key to encrypt a random symmetric encryption key and sends it to the server with the encrypted URL and http data.

  5. The web server then decrypts the symmetric encryption key using its private key and uses the symmetric key to decrypt the URL and http data.



What are public and private keys?


Encryption involving a public/private key pair ensures encryption by one key and decryption by the other. Two keys are involved in our process - a private key, which only you have access to, and a public key, which can be accessed by anyone. The two keys work together, so a message scrambled with the private key can only be unscrambled with the public key and vice versa.



What are certificates?


When you connect to a secure server, the server authenticates itself by providing a digital certificate. This certificate is proof that the website was verified. A valid certificate presents the customer with the confidence that they seek to send information online. All major web merchants use SSL security to encourage customers to buy online.



How to know which page is protected?


You can verify whether the page is protected by observing the following:


  1. The URL of the secure page changes from http://... to https://

  2. A lock symbol appears on the top or on the bottom of the browser depending what browser you are using Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox or any other browser (safari, opera...)
